Daddy Lumba’s Sister Not Ready For December 6 Funeral

The elder sister of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, Ernestina Fosu, has said she is not ready for her brother’s funeral, which has been scheduled for December 6, 2025.

In a video circulating on social media, Ernestina stated, “I am not ready for my brother’s funeral on December 6, 2025.”

Ernestina, who has been supporting the musician’s widow, Akosua Serwaa, in her legal dispute over the funeral arrangements, added that their only wish is for peace.

“Nobody’s looking for controversy; we all just want peace. With God, everything will fall into place. There’s no problem at all,” she said.

The disagreement over Daddy Lumba’s burial began after DL FM announced that his final funeral rites would take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. However, Akosua Serwaa challenged the announcement in court, arguing that the decision was made without the knowledge or consent of the late musician’s immediate family.

In a statement released on October 9, 2025, Akosua Serwaa expressed shock, saying she and the children only learned about the funeral plans through social media. Following a court session at the Kumasi High Court on October 28, 2025, Ernestina Fosu reiterated her stance, insisting she was not ready for the December 6, burial.

Daddy Lumba, one of Ghana’s most celebrated Highlife musicians, passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a battle with illness.
