Abusuapayin Kofi Owusu and Papa Shee
Tensions within the family of late Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, have intensified as the family head, Abusuapayin Kofi Owusu (Tupac), publicly accused gospel musician Papa Shee and another individual, Giga, of fueling confusion surrounding the musician’s funeral arrangements.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on November 15, 2025, Kofi Owusu claimed that Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, was initially willing to allow Odo Broni to perform the widowhood rites—until, he alleged, external influences ‘misguided’ her.
He insisted that both women are respectful and cooperative but said, “Papa Shee and Giga are corrupting their minds… they are the ones causing these issues.”
The family disputes began after Akosua Serwaa filed an injunction at the Kumasi High Court seeking exclusive rights to perform widowhood rites, triggering date changes for the funeral and even leading Lumba’s elder sister to invoke the Asantehene’s ‘Great Oath’ (Ntam Kese) against the abusuapayin.
On financial allegations, Kofi Owusu dismissed claims that he mismanaged funds from the one-week celebration, stating all contributions were deposited in the bank.
He also rejected accusations that he spent GH¢28,000 on hotel accommodation, explaining he stayed for over a month because both of Lumba’s wives were at the family house.
