Nigerian Fugitive Arrested In Ghana For Murder

The suspect. INSET: The deceased victims

Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, a 26-year-old Nigerian wanted for alleged multiple murder cases in Nigeria, has been captured by the Eastern South Regional Police Command at his hideout in Akyem Wenchi, a suburb of Akwatia in the Eastern Region.

The fugitive, who has been hiding in Ghana, is the prime suspect in the tragic killing of a female officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

The case gained international attention after a viral video surfaced alleging that the suspect had abducted and subsequently murdered the two victims, forcing him to flee Nigeria to evade arrest by the Nigerian Police Force.

In a media engagement last Sunday, the Regional Commander, DCOP George Ohene-Boadi, said the command acting on intelligence tracked the suspect to Akyem Wenchi, where he was hiding in a friends’ home.

According to DCOP Ohene-Boadi, following the existing working collaborations between Ghana and Nigeria, police services’ receipts of information where shared, necessitating the timely deployment of an intelligence-led operation leading to his arrest.

He further urged the public to remain vigilant while encouraging residents to report any suspicious movements or activities within their communities to help prevent crime.
