The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has organised the ‘Miracle of Christmas’ celebration in Accra setting the precedent for the upcoming Light the World initiative.

The Light the World initiative celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ by sharing His light through acts of kindness during the Christmas season.

First Counselor, Africa West Area Presidency, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder Adeyinka A. Ojediran, described the celebration as an “Inter-faith Christmas concert.”

As individuals from different faiths and denominations gathered at the concert, he stated that although people may have different doctrines, ‘we’re all one’.

“We call it an inter-faith Christmas concert. We have people of different faith, different religions and even within the Christian faith, we have invited people from different denominations,” he said.

He explained during the celebration that the birth of Jesus Christ is the greatest gift given to mankind. Adding that individuals should emulate this by showing love, compassion to one another.

“The birth of Jesus Christ is the greatest gift given to mankind. As the world rejoices, our message is to save souls, to show love, to show kindness and gratitude for that gift,” he said.

Special Advisor to the President on the Economy, Seth Terkper, delivering a speech on behalf of the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, reminded individuals in public service to lead with integrity and compassion.

“For those of us in public service, let us lead with integrity, compassion and the steady conviction that faith is not a private treasure, but a public responsibility,” he urged.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, expressed great appreciation to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for extending help during the 2021 tidal waves, which displaced nearly four thousand people.

Ms. Gomashie took the opportunity to encourage Ghanaians to support the various activities and products featured in the creative sector as part of the ‘December in GH’ celebration.

She also advised Ghanaians to explore different regions of the country to experience their uniqueness.
