Wizkid and Ayra Starr
Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr, has revealed that working with Afrobeats superstar Wizkid reshaped her understanding of confidence, teaching her that true self-belief does not have to be loud.
The award-winning artist shared the insight during an interview on Tuesday following her performance at the Grammy Museum, where she reflected on her experiences collaborating with Wizkid.
Describing him as a “leading legend,” Ayra Starr said Wizkid’s calm and composed demeanour left a lasting impression on her, especially during their second time working together.
“Wizkid is a leading legend. We all know that,” she said. “The first time I worked with him, I couldn’t believe it and I was just myself. But the second time, he was very calm, cool and relaxed.”
According to Ayra Starr, observing Wizkid helped her realise that confidence does not require noise or constant validation.
“I learned that confidence isn’t noise. He made me understand that,” she added. “He’s very present and confident in his life mission, and that taught me a lot.”
