2 Suspected Drug Peddlers Nabbed In Tamale

As part of ongoing efforts to curb drug-related activities and to maintain peace, law, and order within the Tamale Metropolis, the IGP Special Operations Team of the Ghana Police Service embarked on a routine patrol and intelligence-led operation across identified crime-prone areas within the metropolis.
The operation, which was carried out by 105 personnel under the command of DSP/Mr. Bawa Abdul Jalil, commenced with a swoop at Belpela, a suburb of Tamale following actionable intelligence on suspected drug-related activities in the area.
The team arrested one Ibrahim Abubakari for trading in illicit drugs, and a search conducted on him revealed two tablets of Royal 225, one tablet of Tramadol 120mg, and cash in the sum of GH¢ 1,378.00.
Awumi Andrew was also arrested for the use of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a search conducted on him revealed one roll of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and four mobile phones belonging to other suspects who fled the scene upon seeing the team were retrieved.
During the operation, one unregistered Disiy electric motorbike, one unregistered Haojue motorcycle, one unregistered Apsonic motorcycle, and one unregistered Sonlink motorcycle were retrieved from Lamashegu and the Taxi Rank, respectively.
The operation was successfully executed and significantly contributed to the maintenance of law and order within the Tamale Metropolis.
The strong security presence, professionalism, and operational discipline displayed by the IGP Special Operations Team enhanced public confidence and effectively deterred criminal activities, particularly drug-related offences.
All suspects, together with the exhibits, were conveyed to the Sakasaka Police Station, where the suspects were detained pending further investigations. The exhibits were retained for evidential purposes.
