Abena Soreno Yankyera Earns RTP Awards Nominations

Ghanaian broadcast journalist and media personality, Abena Soreno Yankyera, has been nominated for the 15th edition of Radio and Television Personality Awards (RTP) headlined by GoldBod.

As the lead host of Guide Radio’s morning show Up and Running, Abena grabbed multiple nominations which include Television Female Newscaster of the Year, Radio Female Presenter of the Year among others.

She will be competing with Lily Mohammed – GHOne TV, Serwaa Amihere – GHOne TV, Bernice Abu Baidoo – GHOne TV, Afia Akyere – UTV, Maame Esi Nyamekye Thompson – Joy News, Abena Kyei Boakye – UTV, Ayisha Yakubu Halid – TV3, and Eno Safo – Channel One TV.

For TV programme, DGN’s The Update, which shows from Monday to Friday (12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.) was nominated for TV News Programme of the Year. Guide Radio’s Up and Running was also nominated for the Radio Morning Show of the Year.

A former recipient of the Radio Presenter of the Year, Abena is a passionate advocate for menstrual health equity, using her platform to raise awareness and push for change through her non-governmental organisation (NGO), GoalsForFlow. Abena has spoken at global events like the Global Citizen NOW Conference, calling for an end to period poverty.

Abena Soreno Yankyera started her media journey aged 22, and has since become a prominent voice in advocacy, broadcasting, and youth-centered storytelling. She recently won the Young Media Personality-Africa award at the 7th edition of the Women’s Choice Awards Africa in 2025, beating notable nominees like Akosua Takyi and Portia Arthur.

The RTP Awards, also known as the Radio and Television Personality Awards, is an annual ceremony that recognises outstanding achievements in Ghana’s radio and television industry.

Organised by Big Events Ghana, the awards have been running since 2011, celebrating excellence in broadcasting, entertainment, and digital media.

The 15th edition of the RTP Awards is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026, with nominations already unveiled.
