Nana Ama McBrown
Actress and TV personality, Nana Ama McBrown, has revealed how she deals with bullies on social media whenever she comes across negative comments under her posts.
According to McBrown, she has realised that people are fond of making negative comments under her post anytime she make a post, and as such, devised a strategy where she deletes the negative comments immediately they pop up on her page.
“Many will issue negative comments under my post just to have some engage. Because I have realised that anytime they do that, most of my die-hard fans will engage them in exchanging of words, and they enjoy it.
“As a result, I delete them anytime I see them, not to give them the mileage they want,” she said. Nana Ama McBrown, reiterated that she deletes negative comments to protect her peace, saying she won’t let one bad comment spoil her millions of positive ones.
In Ghana, several celebrities have openly spoken about battling social media bullying. Other celebrities like Wendy Shay, Sista Afia, Becca, and Sister Derby have also faced online abuse, including body shaming and hurtful comments.
Mzbel, has taken legal action against online bullies and is advocating for stricter laws to combat cyberbullying. Fameye, an award-winning songwriter, acknowledged that negative comments can be disturbing, but he has learnt to cope with them over time.
The growing experiences shared by many on social media about bullying highlight concerns about social media bullying in Ghana, with many calling for greater accountability and support for victims.
