Papa Shee Announces Daddy Lumba’s Second Funeral

Evangelist Papa Shee has announced arrangements for a second funeral ceremony in honour of the late highlife icon Daddy Lumba, describing the upcoming event as a “celebration of life” dedicated to the musician’s enduring legacy.

In a video shared on social media, Papa Shee revealed that the commemorative event is scheduled to take place on March 28 and 29, 2026, in Accra. According to him, the decision to hold the ceremony was taken by Daddy Lumba’s family, who have communicated the details to him.

He disclosed that the late musician’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, along with other family members, is expected to be present at the event. While the exact venue has yet to be announced, Papa Shee assured the public that preparations are underway and that further details will be made known in due course.

“This will be a celebration of Daddy Lumba’s life and achievements,” he explained, adding that the event is intended to bring together fans, sympathisers, and well-wishers to honour the contribution of the legendary musician to Ghanaian music.

The planned ceremony will come months after Daddy Lumba’s first funeral, which was held on December 13, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. That event attracted a massive turnout of mourners, including family members, fans, and public officials, following the artist’s death in July 2025. The Kumasi funeral was organised by the head of the family, Kofi Owusu.

The first funeral took place amid a widely publicised legal dispute involving Daddy Lumba’s two wives, over marital recognition. The matter was later settled by a Kumasi High Court, which ruled that both women should be recognised as wives of the late musician.

It remains unclear whether all sides of the family will support or participate in the proposed second funeral in Accra.
