The Ghana Military Academy (GMA) has held a graduation religious parade for Regular Career Course (RCC) 64 and Short Service Commission & Special Duties Intake 62 on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the Academy Hall, Whistler Barracks in Teshie.
The Director General of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Religious Affairs, Brigadier General Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode, in his sermon under the theme “Leading by example is the ultimate leadership”, stated that leadership is a sacred responsibility requiring excellence, accountability and integrity.
The Chaplain cautioned the officer cadets against arrogance, and stressed faithfulness, authenticity, resilience, accountability, and visionary thinking as key traits that define effective leaders.
The Acting Chief Imam of the GAF, Major Mohammed Alhassan, emphasised that true leadership is not sustained by rank or authority alone but by example, integrity and demonstrated competence. He added that while words may inspire followers, consistent action earns trust and lasting loyalty.
The Guest of Honour, Chief of Staff (COS) at the General Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai, applauded the Commandant of GMA, Major General Cornelius Komla Lithur and staff of the Academy for their dedication and discipline throughout months of rigorous training in shaping the cadets. He noted that such attributes are central not only to military service but to life itself.
He urged the Officer Cadets to embrace exemplary leadership, strong moral values and deep spiritual grounding as they prepare to assume command responsibilities in service to the nation.
Air Vice Marshal Mensah-Larkai stressed the importance of faith in the military profession, stating that spirituality provides strength in adversity and serves as a moral compass in moments of difficult decision-making.
He further encouraged the officer cadets to continually nurture their spiritual lives, highlighting humility, compassion and commitment as essential qualities of effective leadership.
In all, seven categories of awards were presented to deserving cadets and companies who excelled in all fields of training. These include Best in Physical Training (male and female), Best in Drill, Diamond, Fleet, Best Shots, Best in Tactics and Best Company awards.
