Rapper, Showboy, was captured in a tense standoff with officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday morning after they attempted to arrest him over allegations of publishing false news.

Videos circulating on social media show the musician resisting the arrest as officers entered his residence at about 10:30 a.m. on January 30, 2026.

In the footage, Showboy is heard repeatedly demanding a warrant and questioning the officers’ authority, insisting he would not comply without proper documentation.

“Leave my house,” the rapper shouted in one clip, while other videos showed him remaining defiant inside a vehicle as the situation unfolded. It remains unclear how the encounter ended, and the Ghana Police Service has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Following the viral videos, Showboy denied reports that his arrest was linked to the alleged blackmail of music promoter Davido GH.

He clarified and alleged that the police had attempted to detain him over the alleged publication of false news.

“It is never true that they came to arrest me for blackmail,” Showboy said. “Seven police officers came to arrest me for ‘publication of false news.’ My lawyer asked them what news I published that was false, and they could not provide an answer.”

He added that, he insisted the officers obtain a warrant before proceeding. “I told them to go to a judge. If the judge believes their claim, then a warrant would be issued. No warrant, no arrest,” he stated.
