Police prescribed uniform
The Ghana Police Service has ordered private security agencies in the country to use it prescribed uniforms in their operations, in accordance with Regulation 12 of the Police Service (Private Security Organisation), Regulations, 1992.
The approved uniforms for use by all private security operators and employees across the country have been categorised into four different sections.
It includes white long/short sleeve shirt over a pair of ash khaki trousers with white stripes on both sides. A cream long/short sleeves shirt over brown khaki trouser with cream stripes on both sides.
A mauve long/short sleeve shirt over a pair of maroon trouser with mauve stripes on both sides. A yellow shirt with ash/grey reflectors across the back and front over brown pair of khaki trousers (solely for the mines and oil field).
In a statement signed by the Director-General, Private Security Organisation, COP/Mr. Daniel Kwame Afriyie warned that any other uniform, colour combination, design, or turnout not listed above and has resemblance to the uniform of the state security agency is deemed unauthorised.
“All private security operators are required to comply strictly with the above approved uniform, specification, and in-house security should as well desist from wearing uniform which have the resemblance to the state security agencies,” the statement read.
COP/Mr. Afriyie further indicated that sanctions will be awarded to individuals who flout the rules, urging the public to report any suspected violations to the appropriate authorities.
