Black Sherif Gets Highest Boomplay Followings

Ghanaian singer and rapper, Black Sherif, has topped Ghanaian artistes with the highest Boomplay fan following of about 445k, according to Unorthodox Reviews, an Afrobeats Community delivering the best news and reviews on African music.

Black Sherif is killing it on Boomplay, he was the first Ghanaian artiste to reach 500 million streams on the platform, and his debut album, ‘The Villain I Never Was’, is the most streamed Ghanaian album on Boomplay, with over 300 million streams.

He received a plaque from Boomplay for amassing 300 million total streams for his catalogue in February 2023.

Stonebwoy follows as the second most streamed artiste with 310k followings. He’s been recognised for surpassing 100 million streams on the platform, earning him a spot in the prestigious Boomplay Golden Club alongside other African music icons like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.

Stonebwoy was the most streamed Ghanaian artiste on Boomplay for the first three years after the platform launched in Ghana in 2018. His album ‘5th Dimension’ has garnered over 23.5 million streams on Boomplay, with the lead single ‘Into the Future’ peaking at No. 1 on the Boomplay Ghana Charts.

KiDi followed keenly with over 235k followings on Boomplay. He recently hit 100 million streams, earning him a spot in Boomplay’s prestigious Golden Club alongside other African music icons. He’s one of the most streamed Ghanaian artistes on the platform, with hits like ‘Touch It’ and ‘Odo’.

King Promise has over 218k followings on the platform. He’s the third Ghanaian artiste to surpass 100 million streams, earning him a spot in the prestigious Boomplay Golden Club.

His debut album ‘As Promised’ earned 1 million streams, ‘Tokyo’ featuring Wizkid earned 500,000 streams, and ‘CCTV’ featuring Mugeez and Sarkodie earned 500,000 streams.

Sarkodie followed with 202k. He’s the most streamed Ghanaian artiste on the platform with over 52 million streams, and has won five awards for hits like ‘Ofeetso’, ‘Rapperholic’, ‘Black Love’, and ‘Anadwo’ featuring King Promise. He’s also part of Boomplay’s prestigious Golden Club, having surpassed 100 million streams on the platform, making him the second Ghanaian artiste to achieve this feat after Black Sherif.

Shatta Wale has 173k followings, Fameye with 163k, Gyakie has 159k, Kuami Eugene and Kofi Kinaata have 129k and113k followings respectively.
