Yaw Ampofo Ankrah (2L) and NSA staff members
The Board of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has instructed Director-General, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah to revoke the appointments of 17 staff members over what it describes as violations of approved recruitment procedures.
The directive was issued after a Board retreat in Ada, where Mr. Ampofo Ankrah was reportedly given up to February 6 to nullify the appointments.
This is the second time the Board has asked the Director-General to withdraw staff recruitment decisions it considers irregular.
According to sources familiar with the matter, a number of the positions filled are not captured in the NSA’s recognised organisational structure, raising questions about their legitimacy and preventing any formal confirmation of those recruited.
It is also alleged that some of the affected appointees were assigned roles carrying authority beyond that of existing deputy directors, a development said to have triggered internal unease within the Authority.
The Board and the Director-General are understood to be at odds over the issue, with concerns that compliance with the directive has been delayed.
Meanwhile, Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams is expected to engage both parties in talks aimed at settling the impasse and restoring administrative harmony within the NSA.
