Benjamin Asare Targets World Cup Impact After Super Clash Heroics

Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, has pledged to sustain his outstanding form as he sets his sights on making a strong impression at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The shot-stopper delivered a standout performance in Sunday’s Super Clash, playing a crucial role in Hearts of Oak’s narrow 1–0 win over archrivals, Asante Kotoko, at the Baba Yara Stadium.

A first-half header from Baba Adamu separated the two sides, with the Phobians showing resilience to protect their lead despite going down to ten men following Emmanuel Amankwah’s early red card.

Asare produced a string of key saves to deny Kotoko and preserve the advantage, continuing a run of impressive displays that has also seen him shine in recent World Cup qualifying matches and international friendlies.

Speaking after the match on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Asare said his ambition is to carry his current momentum onto football’s biggest stage when the tournament is hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

He noted that the victory over Kotoko was especially meaningful, stressing that the team approached the derby determined to respond strongly and secure bragging rights.
