Dr. Bawumia speaking during the prayers
Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), yesterday said we should all constantly remember death, as this would ensure that we live righteous lives in this ephemeral world.
When we live with the constant thought of dying at a time we do not know, we would hardly engage in acts of unrighteousness, he said.
He was speaking during the third day Islamic prayers for the late Dr. Abubakar Sidick Ahmed, former Manager of the University of Ghana’s Radio Univers.
While describing the deceased who passed on recently as a good person, Dr. Bawumia recalled how he had known him for the past twenty-six years.
“I first met him when I went to the University of Ghana to talk to students at a time I worked with the Bank of Ghana. He hosted me on Radio Univers, and that was the first interview I granted a radio station,” Dr. Bawumia disclosed.
Nathan Kwabena Adisi, aka Bola Ray, who was among many personalities to grace the solemn occasion, recalled how the late Dr. Sidick introduced him to radio.
The new manager of Radio Univers, Dr. Kweku Botwe, who also passed through the hands of the deceased, appealed for funds to support the work of the station.
Politicians, staff of the Department of Communication Studies, and many others were at the religious function to pay their last respects to the man whose legacy is evident in the many students who passed through his tutelage.
