Higher education across the globe is undergoing rapid transformation driven by artificial intelligence, digital innovation, interdisciplinary studies, entrepreneurship and research-led development, Acting Vice Chancellor of Christian Service University (CSU), Dr. Stephen Banahene, has stated.
Addressing the January 2025/2026 matriculants of the university on February 21, 2026, Dr. Banahene said the changing global landscape demands more than academic certificates, stressing that today’s world rewards critical thinking, creativity, digital competence, ethical leadership, adaptability and global awareness.
He noted that universities worldwide are repositioning themselves to respond to technological and economic shifts, adding that CSU has consistently reviewed and redesigned its curricula to remain relevant and competitive.
“The world no longer rewards certificates alone,” he emphasised, urging students to embrace innovation and continuous learning.
On admissions, Dr. Banahene disclosed that the university received a total of 1,948 applications for the 2025/2026 academic year, representing 97.4 percent of its target. Out of the number, 1,148 applications were received during the first admission session in September 2025, while 800 were recorded during the second session.
He further revealed that as at the end of the first semester of the academic year, CSU’s total student population stands at 3,768, comprising 3,473 undergraduates (92%), 260 postgraduates (7%) and 35 diploma students (1%).
Touching on gender distribution, he indicated that the student population consists of 1,061 males (28.16%) and 2,707 females (71.84%). According to him, the gender dynamics require strategic resource redistribution to meet emerging needs.
Dr. Banahene assured that management, in collaboration with the University Council, is working to expand academic infrastructure and enhance teaching and learning resources to accommodate the growing student numbers.
He also reminded the students that their admission marks the beginning of a transformational journey within a community grounded in faith, scholarship, service and leadership, urging them to uphold integrity and strive for excellence throughout their academic life.
