Nollywood actor, Ray Emodi, has announced he is stepping away from acting, revealing that safety concerns and mounting family pressure forced him to make the difficult decision.
“I have stopped acting in films. I quit. There was a time I never thought I would say that sentence for a short period of time, but I won’t lie,” he said.
Emodi disclosed that alarming security conditions on set played a major role in his exit. He recalled filming in an unnamed town where gunshots rang out nearby while production continued.
“I shot a film in a town that I won’t mention, but we were literally hearing gunshots. There was like a craziness going on in the town next to our town, and we were still shooting,” he explained.
Beyond the dangers on location, the actor admitted the move has stirred tension within his family. According to him, his relatives — who uphold strict values and are protective of their reputation — do not support his career choice.
“This is a decision that has come with a lot of consequences. My family does not support this. It is a family with strict rules and a reputation to protect, which is understandable, and I respect them,” he stated.
Emodi stressed that he has no intention of defying his family’s wishes.
“I respect their decision, and I won’t do anything that would bring any stain to the name,” he added.
