THE AHAFO Regional Police Command has arrested suspect Mawuli Dogba, 20, Johnson Mawutor, 26, and Kelvin Ofori, 22, for possession of firearm without lawful authority, and their preparation to commit crime, to wit “robbery”.
According police report, the Ahafo Regional Taskforce Patrol team while on duty along Ayomsu-Goaso road conducting stop and search, spotted the suspects heading towards Ayomso, near Goaso.
Upon seeing the police checkpoint, the suspects switched off the unregistered motorbike’s headlights and made a U-turn in an attempt to escape. Mawutor and Kelvin were arrested after police pursuit. A search conducted revealed one 47 assault rifle No. 68098152 loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition concealed and intended to transport it to Abro Danho, a suburb of Goaso.
The team led the two (2) suspects to their residence, and items retrieved include one (1) Beretta Bruni Pistol No. Mod. 92, one (1) NM157-1941 Pistol, thirty (30) rounds of 9mm ammunition and fifty (50) rounds of AK 47 ammunition.
Also found were four (4) Motorola Hand Sets, one (1) Contiso F35 Drone, one (1) machete and one (1) Bionette knife.
Preliminary investigation disclosed that on February 22, 2026, at 3 p.m., suspect Johnson Mawutor asked his cousin, suspect Mawuli Dogba, to accompany his friend, Mohammed-Adinan Ussif, now at large, to Techiman in the Bono East Region to collect a parcel for him (Mawutor).
“When they got to Techiman, Ussif entered and met him and took delivery of the parcel. At about 11:30 p.m., same day, suspects were intercepted with the bag containing the AK 47 assault rifle with 29 rounds of ammunition,” the police report disclosed.
Police say investigations are ongoing to arrest suspect Mohammed-Adinan Ussif and any other person who may have contributed to the commissioning of the crime. Suspects Mawutor, Mawuli, and Kelvin will be put before court and remanded to assist in the ongoing investigation.
