No One Can Overthrow Me – Daddy Lumba’s Abusuapanyin Speaks Out

Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu

Victor Kofi Owusu, the family head of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has firmly rejected calls for his removal as head of his family.

Speaking on Ezra TV on Thursday, Kofi Owusu made it clear, “No one can overthrow me as a family head except Otumfuo. People don’t show respect and are just talking without understanding.”

He directly addressed Mama China, a leading advocate for his removal, stating, “Who is Mama China anyway? If a family head organises a funeral, I answer only to my family. A post-funeral review is for us, not for bloggers or outsiders. Mama China and her group need to understand that they are not part of the Ekuona clan. Even if two Ekuona members join them that does not make them our family.”

The dispute stems from a faction of Lumba’s family calling for Kofi Owusu’s removal after his management of the late musician’s funeral. During a February 25, 2026 meeting with the Chiefs of Parkoso, Mama China and other family members accused Kofi Owusu of tarnishing both the singer’s and the family’s reputation.

She also criticised him for allegedly excluding Lumba’s first wife and elder sister from the funeral arrangements. She issued a two-week ultimatum saying, “We have given him a two-week period to appear before the Chiefs on March 11, 2026, to answer our questions or face the consequences.”

Kofi Owusu, however, remains resolute in his position, insisting that only the Asantehene has the authority to remove him.
