Eco Restore Honoured

Eco Restore Limited, a leading regenerative restoration social enterprise in Ghana, has been adjudged the Best Shea Nursery Operator for 2026 at the recent Tree Crops Excellence Awards, organised by the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA).

The award ceremony formed part of the maiden Ghana Tree Crops Investment Summit 2026, held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) from February 17 to 20, 2026, on the theme, “Sustainable Growth through Tree Crop Investments.”

The TCDA, presented the award to recognise Eco Restore’s contribution to tree crop development and indigenous species restoration in Ghana.

Eco Restore has been noted for its work with shea, baobab, dawadawa and tamarind, among other indigenous tree species, aimed at strengthening environmental sustainability and food security in the regions it operates.

A citation accompanying the award read: “The Tree Crops Development Authority confers upon Eco Restore Ltd the Tree Crops Excellence Award 2026 for Best Shea Nursery Operator of the Year in recognition of exceptional leadership in indigenous tree restoration and sustainable nursery operations.”

The citation also noted that Eco Restore operates in over 60 communities across four regions and has planted more than one million indigenous trees, including shea.

The award was received by the company’s directors, Dr. Peter Lovett and Mr. Senyo Kpelly.

Eco Restore’s approach blends traditional ecological knowledge with modern restoration science, contributing to efforts in landscape rehabilitation and climate action.

Eco Restore acknowledges the critical support of key partners in its work, including its women shea collectors, who serve as the primary harvesters of superior germplasm, its hardworking nursery women, and the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), with whom directors have had over three decades of collaboration with.

Speaking on behalf of the directors, Dr. Peter Lovett said the award reflects the dedication of Eco Restore’s staff, nursery teams and partners whose collaboration continues to drive impact on the ground.

He called on government agencies, development partners and industry stakeholders to support initiatives such as shea parkland restoration, which strengthen both livelihoods and Ghana’s natural ecosystems.

Dr. Lovett, reiterated Eco Restore’s commitment to restoring shea parklands, growing back indigenous trees, and promoting sustainable tree crop development across the country.

The event brought together policymakers, investors, private sector actors, and development partners in Ghana’s tree crops industry, making the recognition even more meaningful.
