Renowned Nollywood filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, says the rising cost of fuel in Nigeria is taking a heavy toll on his business operations.
In a video circulating on social media, the director revealed that he spends about N11 million on diesel every month to run his KAP Film Village and Resort despite having solar power installed.
According to him, the situation has become unsustainable as the facility often buys diesel on credit and struggles to settle the payments.
“It’s not sustainable because even the diesel we buy is on credit. Sometimes it takes two months to pay before we can get another one,” he said.
Afolayan noted that the latest price hike — from about N995–N1,000 to over N1,500 per litre — has left him deeply worried.
The filmmaker also appealed for financial support, saying he needs a loan to upgrade the resort’s solar power system to reduce reliance on diesel.
“When this new diesel price was announced, I have been sad because I can’t cope with N1,500 per litre,” he said.
