Darren, Denise and Calvin who are reportedly three of Daddy Lumba’s children
The children of late Ghanaian Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, have appealed to the public and the media to allow their family space to grieve, as fresh controversies swirl around the singer’s burial place.
In a joint statement released on March 13, 2026, the children of the music icon said matters concerning their father’s burial and related decisions remain “private family matters.”
The statement urged Ghanaians to exercise restraint when discussing the family’s internal matters.
“While we understand the love and admiration that many people have for our late father, Charles Kwadwo Fosu (Daddy Lumba), matters relating to his burial arrangements are private family matters,” the statement said.
“We respectfully ask the public, media, and all well-wishers to allow our family the privacy and space required to grieve and honour our father in accordance to his wishes.”
The Highlife great, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Cantonments at the age of 60.
His passing triggered a bitter family dispute that reportedly split relatives into rival camps, including his two wives, with disagreements over funeral arrangements, estate administration, and family leadership.
The singer’s funeral was held on December 13, 2025, after the Accra High Court dismissed a last-minute injunction filed by his sister, Ernestina Fosuh, that sought to halt the ceremony.
But the controversy resurfaced again in March 2026 following claims that the late musician was secretly buried inside his private residence in East Legon.
The reports have drawn concern from Ga traditional authorities, who insist that burials within private homes violate long-standing Ga customary practices.
Despite the growing debate, Daddy Lumba’s children say the family is focused on mourning their father and honouring his legacy away from public scrutiny.
