Muslims in the Western Region have received assorted food items from MTN Ghana and Mobile Money Limited.

The gesture forms part of the companies’ commitment to supporting the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan.

The item included bags of rice, oil, sugar, soft drinks, biscuits, a ram and cartons of bottled water valued at GH¢100,000.

Aside the items, the two entities also made a cash donation of GH¢100,000, bringing the total value of support to GH¢200,000.

Speaking at the brief presentation ceremony, Mr. Kennedy Kofi Fosu, Corporate Services Advisor for Southern Ghana of MTN said the gesture was aimed at reaffirming the companies’ strong relationship with the Muslim community.

“This is something we have been doing consistently for the past 15 to 20 years. It is our way of showing appreciation to the Muslim community and supporting them as they come close to the end of their fasting,” he pointed out.

He noted that beyond the donation, the company values the prayers and spiritual support of the Muslim faithful.

“We also ask that they remember us in their prayers for wisdom, growth of our business and continued success in all our endeavours,” he added.

He acknowledged that fasting is key to religious activities and urged the Muslim community to offer prayers to Allah on behalf of the two entities for wisdom in their operations.

Western Regional Chief Imam, Alhaj Zulkifil Abdul Waheed, commended MTN for its consistency and generosity towards the Muslim community.

He emphasised that Islam places high value on charity and supporting the needy, particularly, during Ramadan.

“Our Prophet Mohammad taught us that when someone does good to you and you cannot repay, you should pray for that person’s progress. We commend MTN for its continuous generosity”, he noted.

He lauded the company’s dedication to community engagement and prayed for its continued success.
