The late Mohbad
The father of late singer Mohbad has taken a firm stance in the ongoing controversy over his son’s burial, insisting that a DNA test must be done first.
Joseph Aloba says he will not bury the singer until the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam, is confirmed.
“Without DNA, we cannot proceed. It is part of the evidence,” he said in a video shared online.
A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, had earlier ordered a DNA test to determine if the child is truly Mohbad’s biological son.
But Aloba claims the process is being frustrated.
“Some powerful people have connived to use Mohbad’s death to frustrate me… now they have gone to pick a questionable DNA centre,” he alleged.
He also hinted at moving the case to Ekiti State.
“If possible, we will seek to transfer the case from Lagos to Ekiti. I will consult my lawyer,” he added.
Despite the tension, he appealed to the Lagos State government to allow him to bury his son—once the DNA test is done.
“I am calling on the government to allow me to bury my son, but the DNA must be done first,” he stressed.
Mohbad died in September 2023, and the controversy surrounding his death, estate, and son’s paternity continues to stir public debate.
