Yaa Naa Appoints Comms Rep For Dagbon

Lyssiemay Nyaaba Annoh and the Gundogu Naa Hajia Samata Abudu during the programme

 

His Royal Majesty, Ndan Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari Gariba II, King of Dagbon, together with Gundogu Naa Hajia Samata Abudu, the highest female authority in the Dagbon Kingdom, have formally appointed Ms. Lyssiemay Nyaaba Annoh as Global Marketing and Communications Representative for Yendi and Dagbon.

The appointment was made on March 12, 2026 and climaxed by a ceremony.

Lyssiemay Annoh will be based in the United Kingdom. The Gundogu Naa was represented at the ceremony by the Vokpi Naa, her principal liaison to government, private sector, and development partners.

The Vokpi Naa plays a key role in representing the Gundogu Naa and fostering partnerships that support development within the Gundogu Traditional Area, the Yendi Municipality, and the wider Dagbon Kingdom.

Public Relations Officer, Musah Yakubu, conveyed His Majesty’s gratitude and blessings, affirming the Kingdom’s full support for Ms. Annoh as she promotes Yendi and Dagbon internationally. He wished her good health, strength, and success in her new role.

Yendi is widely known to produce Fugu (also known as Batakari), a traditional hand-woven garment symbolising royalty, strength, and heritage. In recognition of its cultural significance, the Government of Ghana has declared Wednesdays as “National Fugu Day,” an initiative led by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts to promote local artisans, national identity, and cultural pride. The campaign gained momentum following international commentary on President John Dramani Mahama’s attire, transforming criticism into a symbol of national unity and pride.
