Shatta Wale Appeals For Dede Ayew To Join World Cup Squad

Shatta Wale. INSET: Dede Ayew

Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has called for the inclusion of André Dede Ayew in Ghana’s World Cup squad following the Black Stars’ disappointing performances in recent friendly matches against Austria and Germany.

In a video shared on X on March 30, 2026, the musician, during a live TikTok session, appealed to the Ghana Football Association and other relevant authorities to consider adding the former Black Stars captain to the team.

According to Shatta Wale, Dede Ayew’s presence in the squad would strengthen the team, especially because of his strong on-field understanding with his brother, Jordan Ayew.

“They have to include Dede Ayew in the World Cup team. We are pleading, it’s not by force, but we are begging that he should be part of the team. We are kneeling… so he can support Jordan because of their strong connection. When they are on the pitch, they uplift the entire team. I am very devastated about all this,” he said.

Shatta Wale also criticised the Black Stars over what he described as a lack of determination and hunger for success.

“Black Stars, let me ask you something: do you want to compete for the World Cup or something else? If it’s something else, I would understand because it seems we are not used to winning trophies. Maybe they should create a ‘World Bottle’ for you to compete in. Don’t you drink water at all, or do you want a ‘World Spoon’?” he added.
