Musician, Guru, has credited his 2011 hit song “Lapaz Toyota” as the turning point in his music career.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on the Atuu show, Guru disclosed that despite releasing popular tracks like “Kasiebo” and “Democracy,” he struggled to produce another major hit until “Lapaz Toyota” was released.
According to him, the song did not only revive his career but also earned him his first record label deal, helping him gain recognition within the industry.
He explained that at the time, he was considering leaving music due to the challenges he faced in sustaining success.
The artist noted that the success of “Lapaz Toyota” significantly improved his personal life, allowing him to achieve financial stability and support those around him.
Guru added that the impact of the song extended beyond his individual success, as it also created opportunities for friends he had struggled with earlier in his career.
“Lapaz Toyota,” widely regarded as one of his biggest hits, remains a defining moment in Guru’s journey in the Ghanaian music industry.
