The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has underscored the growing importance of Ghana’s beverage industry in enhancing tourism and national experience, following the successful hosting of the 10th edition of the Ghana Beverage Awards.

The milestone event, held on April 18, 2026, at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, brought together key industry players, policymakers, and stakeholders to celebrate a decade of excellence in the beverage sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (General Services) of Ghana Tourism Authority, Ben Anane Nsiah, who represented the Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto, highlighted the strong connection between beverages and tourism, describing the sector as a key contributor to Ghana’s hospitality and cultural identity. He added that such experiences often leave lasting impressions on visitors, reinforcing Ghana’s reputation as a destination rich in culture and lifestyle.

“From a tourism perspective, beverages play a powerful role in shaping visitor experiences. Whether it is a refreshing local drink on a warm afternoon or a premium beverage served in our finest hotels, these moments stay with people,” he noted.

The event also celebrated outstanding performers within the industry, with Malta Guinness emerging as the Product of the Year, the highest honour of the night, while Bel Aqua, Heritage Brewery earned recognitions as Water of the Year and Bar of the Year respectively. The award reflects the brands sustained popularity, quality, and strong consumer connection over the years.

Mr. Nsiah noted that the beverage industry occupies a unique space at the intersection of culture, commerce, and hospitality, making it a vital driver of tourism growth and job creation.

“The beverage industry supports tourism, creates jobs, and strengthens our identity as a destination that offers not just sights, but experiences,” he emphasised.

He further commended organisers of the Ghana Beverage Awards for its role in promoting excellence and encouraging innovation within the sector, noting that such platforms are critical in raising industry standards and building consumer trust.

Looking ahead, the Ghana Tourism Authority made a call for deeper collaboration among stakeholders and greater investment in local brands to ensure sustained growth across both industries.
