Police Chase Man For Sharing Woman’s Nude Photos

The Northern Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of circulating intimate images of a woman in Tamale, Northern Region.

Information gathered indicates that the images and a viral video showing the woman naked in a vehicle with a man were posted online weeks after the alleged incident.

The suspect, who is currently on the run, is said to have filmed the victim and then threatened to release the images unless she complied with sexual demands, which she refused, resulting in the circulation of the images.

After the circulation of the images on the internet, the victim was reportedly traumatised and was supported by neighbours as well as well‑wishers to recover.

The incident has since been reported to police for investigation.

Renowned Tamale-based lawyer, Sylvester Isang, has offered to represent the victim pro bono, and said he will pursue all legal avenues to ensure the suspect is arrested and prosecuted.

The Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, disclosed that the police have engaged relevant stakeholders, including the Department of Social Welfare, to provide the victim with support and protection.

Meanwhile, residents of Tamale have urged the police to apprehend and prosecute the suspect to serve as a deterrent to others.
