THE AKUAPEM North Constituency of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region has been hit with bad news, the paper has been informed.
This follows the untimely demise of the party’s secretary in the constituency, Isaac Batsa, who is alleged to have died in a hotel room at Amanokrom on May 18, 2026.
Information regarding what really caused the sudden death of the NDC official are scanty. For instance, it’s not known whether Batsa was alone in the room or not when he passed on.
Also, the exact time that Mr. Batsa lodged at the hotel (name withheld) has not been made public, paving way for all manner of people to speculate about the death on social media platforms.
According to reports, the sudden death of Batsa, who was said to be a hardworking and respectful party man, is reported to have ignited an atmosphere of sadness in the constituency.
Meanwhile, the lifeless body has since been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy to help determine what really caused the death of the NDC Constituency Secretary.
In a related development, Sammi Awuku, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem North, has expressed sorrow over the death of Batsa.
In a short tribute on his Facebook wall, the lawmaker, who was said to have a good relationship with Batsa, expressed shock over his death and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and the NDC.
According to Sammi Awuku, Batsa contributed immensely towards the effective and proper transformation of the Akuapem North Constituency, lamenting that his death is a big blow to the constituency.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Isaac Batsa, the Akuapem North NDC Constituency Secretary today. Though we belonged to different political parties, he rose above party lines and served both his party and the Constituency diligently.
“It is even harder to believe because our last interaction was just on Saturday. My heartfelt condolences to his family, the constituency executives, regional executives and the entire NDC fraternity,” Sammi Awuku wrote.
