THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command are investigating a top police officer in the region, who has been accused of promoting prostitution for financial gains.
The beleaguered police officer, whose name has not been disclosed by the police for security reasons, allegedly, owned brothels at Asafo BB in Kumasi, where prostitutes operate.
According to Superintendent of Police, Godwin Ahianyo, who is the head of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, the command consider the case as very serious.
In this regard, he has assured in a press statement that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the necessary actions taken afterwards.
“The Ashanti Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into allegations against a Chief Inspector stationed in the region for allegedly owning unauthorised wooden structures at Asafo BB and renting them out to commercial sex workers.
“The Command takes the allegations seriously and wishes to assure the public that further developments following the investigations will be communicated,” he stated in the press release, issued on July 10, 2026.
Meanwhile, the paper has learnt that the Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, got to know that a police officer owns brothels at Asafo BB when the assembly demolished illegal structures in the area, recently.
Nicknamed ‘Zuba’, the Kumasi Mayor immediately reported the said officer to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, who quickly started their investigations into the allegations.
“It may surprise you to know that some of the brothels at Asafo BB where the commercial sex workers engage in their illegal activities are owned by some police officers in the city.
“I have personally reported the policemen involved in that illegal activities to the Ashanti Regional Police Command for investigation”, Zuba disclosed in a radio interview.
