Nana Yaw Bonsu Kwarteng
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man who allegedly posed as a pastor to defraud women and share their intimate images without consent.
The suspect, Nana Yaw Bonsu Kwarteng, was picked up following complaints of romance scam, defrauding by false pretences and non-consensual sharing of intimate images.
He was arraigned alongside his wife, Sally Akosua Amoasah, at Accra Circuit Court 1. According to preliminary investigations, Bonsu Kwarteng presented himself as a pastor who conducted online church services on Instagram. Police say he targeted women and told them “God had revealed” they were his future wives.
To gain their trust, he allegedly met some victims’ families and presented promise rings. He then lured them into what he described as a “religious investment” — a car tyre import business. Investigators say he collected thousands of dollars from the women under the pretext of shipping and clearing containers of tyres, promising to use the profits to fund their weddings.
After receiving the money, he reportedly became unreachable. Police further allege that the suspect obtained intimate images of some victims and used them to blackmail them for money.
Investigations also revealed that he shared those images with his wife, Sally Akosua Amoasah, who is accused of threatening the victims. Seven victims have so far reported to the police, with offences dating back to 2021. The police say they continue to receive complaints from other possible victims. Both suspects were put before Accra Circuit Court 1 on charges of conspiracy to commit crime, defrauding by false pretences, and non-consensual sharing of intimate images.
The court remanded Nana Yaw Bonsu Kwarteng into police custody to reappear on August 6, 2026. Sally Akosua Amoasah was granted bail.
The Ghana Police Service is urging anyone who may have had similar encounters with the suspect to report to the nearest police station to assist ongoing investigations.
