The suspects
The Accra Regional Police Command, with support from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET), has arrested two brothers, Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon, in connection with a shooting incident that led to the death of a 54-year-old-man, Mohammed Rahman.
Mohammed’s wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, was also injured in the incident which occurred at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija on August 6, 2026.
According to the Weija Division Police, it received a distress call that a man and his wife had been shot at their four-bedroom apartment. Officers rushed to the scene and found Rahman Mohammed and Christiana Fosu with gunshot wounds outside the house.
The police said both victims were rushed to Finney Hospital, Weija, where Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival, and his wife referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, Accra Region, said prime suspect Adams Adder Almeida whose brother, Bala Bilyon, works with the deceased, admitted to shooting the couple during interrogation.
According to police report, Bala Bilyon, who owns the weapon used in shooting the couple, has also been arrested.
The two brothers reside together at Tuba.
He allegedly told police he was driven by anger after the deceased repeatedly called him “lazy and useless,” a claim he said affected him mentally.
Adams later led investigators to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, where a pistol believed to have been used in the crime was retrieved from beneath a wardrobe.
Adams further told police the pistol was given to him by a friend named Gideon. Police followed him to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but he was not found. A manhunt is underway.
