Ghanaian artiste, Kweku Flick, has praised Tanzanian creator Tenge Tenge for promoting his new Afro-pop single ‘Frangō’, saying the buzz from abroad is currently stronger than in Ghana despite early support from local creators.
The comment sparked debate online, with some fans pushing back. They pointed to videos by Ghanaian TikTokers with millions of followers that helped push the song earlier, and reminded him of the home support he received for past features, including with Sarkodie.
In a post on X, Kweku Flick wrote: “Sometimes the support you expect from home comes from somewhere else. Tenge Tenge, my brother, thank you for the genuine love. The people of Ghana know FRANGŌ is a Big record!! But somehow the support from outside is louder than the support from home. Huge song.”
Following the backlash, the rapper shared the official video for ‘Frangō’ and proudly reaffirmed his Ghanaian roots. The exchange has reignited conversations about artiste-fan dynamics and how emerging acts perceive support at home versus abroad.
