The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie Central in the Ashanti Region, Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang, has commissioned a new Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Fenaso No. 3 to boost healthcare delivery in the area.
The facility, which was commissioned in collaboration with the District Health Directorate and Nananom, is expected to bring basic healthcare services closer to residents and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances to access medical care.
The commissioning also makes the Fenaso No. 3 CHPS compound the third health facility commissioned in the district since Mr. Obeng Agyemang assumed office about one year and two months ago.
The development, according to the DCE, demonstrates the Assembly’s commitment to improving social infrastructure and ensuring that residents in deprived communities have access to essential services.
Mr. Obeng Agyemang, speaking at the ceremony, said healthcare remained a major priority of his administration, stressing that the provision of functional health facilities was critical to improving the wellbeing of the people.
He urged residents of Fenaso No. 3 and adjoining communities to take ownership of the facility and ensure that it was properly maintained to serve them for many years.
The DCE further called on the people to cooperate with health workers and make good use of the facility by seeking medical attention whenever necessary.
The District Health Director, Oppong Ahmed Ampratwum, commended the District Assembly and Nananom for their roles in making the project a reality.
He said the facility would help improve access to primary healthcare, particularly maternal and child health services, as well as disease prevention and early treatment.
Mr. Ampratwum urged residents to patronise the facility and avoid delays in seeking medical attention, noting that early detection and treatment could help prevent complications.
Nananom also expressed appreciation to the Assembly for providing the facility, describing it as a major boost to healthcare delivery in the community.
They pledged their support towards the protection and maintenance of the facility and appealed for continued development projects to meet the needs of the growing population.
The Fenaso No. 3 CHPS compound is expected to serve residents of the community and surrounding areas while contributing to the government’s broader objective of bringing healthcare services closer to people at the community level.
