Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed strong confidence that he will get massive endorsements from delegates in the Western Region (WR) in the party’s national executive elections scheduled for October this year.
The NPP General Secretary, who was in the region to campaign for his re-election, stated, “I have the conviction that I will get massive endorsements from the delegates in the region.”
He disclosed that the words of encouragement and testimonies the delegates in the region are giving about his hard work and the relationship he had with the grassroots indicated that the delegates will re-elect him as the General Secretary.
He noted, “The party members said they admire the way I receive them when they come to the national headquarters, and the fact that anytime they call me I pick their calls.”
Mr. Kodua Frimpong said the party members also commended him for the several reforms implemented during his tenure, including, for the first time, organising the presidential primaries of the party before the polling station and constituency primaries.
He noted that the reforms were designed to build a stronger party capable of returning to government in 2028.
The General Secretary told journalists that the party members were enthused about his efforts to help reorganise the NPP after it lost the 2024 general election.
“So they believe that I should be allowed to continue my work to help bring the party to power in 2028,” he disclosed.
Mr. Kodua Frimpong said the party’s delegates told him that he could not be blamed for the party’s defeat in the last general election.
He noted that the delegates believed that “there was a big tsunami that occurred in the party.”
He said, “My focus now is to help build a party that is prepared, well-positioned and focused for victory in the 2028 general election.”
“In fact, I was extremely excited at the reception accorded me by the party faithful in the region, and I am sure they will vote for me,” he stated.
Meanwhile, some of the party members in the region openly declared their support for the General Secretary’s bid to retain his position at the NPP’s upcoming national elections.
