Ghana’s Black Princesses suffered a disappointing start to their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign after losing 3-0 to Ecuador in their opening Group match.
Ghana created the first clear opportunity through Agnes Yeboah, but her effort was parried away by the Ecuadorian goalkeeper. Ecuador responded immediately, taking the lead in the second minute after beating Ghana goalkeeper Najat Abdul Salam.
The South Americans doubled their advantage in the 16th minute, before Najat was forced off with an injury and replaced by Precious Asante.
The Black Princesses pushed forward in search of a way back into the contest, but they were unable to convert their chances as Ecuador went into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Ecuador added a third goal after the restart to complete a 3-0 victory and leave Ghana without a point from their opening fixture.
The Black Princesses will look to bounce back when they face South Korea in their second group game on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
