Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has secured the number one position on the ballot paper for the party’s National Chairmanship race, slated for Saturday, October 3, 2026, in Kumasi.
Four candidates are contesting the National Chairmanship position: former National Chairman Paul Afoko, former General Secretary John Boadu, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko and a former National Vice Chairman Sammy Crabbe.
Sammy Crabbe secured number two on the ballot, followed by Paul Afoko at number three, while Boakye Agyarko secured number four.
The balloting, held at the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra yesterday, formed part of preparations for NPP’s national executive elections and brought together representatives of the various candidates and aspirants.
For the General Secretary position, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, secured number one on the ballot, followed by former Subin MP Eugene Boakye Antwi at number 2, incumbent General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong secured number 3, while the party’s current National Treasurer, Dr. Charles Dwamena, took the fourth position.
In the National Treasurer race, Hajia Ruka Ahmed secured number one, followed by Alfred Kojo Thompson who picked number two, Tahiru Moomen at number three, and Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah at number four on the ballot paper.
The Vice Chairperson position, which is being contested by 13 aspirants, saw former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, secure number one on the ballot, Kojo Bamba followed at number two, with Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah at number three, while  Richard Ahiagbah secured the fourth place on the ballot paper.
Masawuud Mohammed secured number five, while Oti Aboagye took number six on the ballot paper, Abena Pokuah Amoah Boatey secured number seven, followed by Abena Yaa Amponsah Frimpong at number eight, and Henry Nana Boakye at ninth position on the ballot paper.
Horma Akesie Miezah secured the tenth position on the ballot paper, while Samuel Pyne took number eleven, Nana Akomea picked number twelve and Bright Essilfie picked number thirteen on the ballot paper.
For the National Organiser position, Kwame Prempeh secured number one, followed by Agyenim Boateng at number two, and Archibald Gamor Koletey at number three, Nana K. picked number four, Ali Maga Alidu at number five, Emmanuel Korsi Bordja number six, while  Daniel Nii Kwartey Titus-Glover secured number seven on the ballot paper.
In the National Youth Organiser race, Alfred Kumi Ababio secured number one, followed by Vera Oye Bram-Larbi at number two, and Michael Osei Boateng at number three,  Abanga Fuseini took number four, Clement Opoku Gyamfi  picked number five, while Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei secured number six on the ballot paper.
For the National Women’s Organiser position, Hajia Safia Mohammed secured number one, while Mavis Hawa Koomson picked number two on the ballot.
In the Nasara Coordinator race, Alhaji Ali Suraj secured number one, followed by Isaka Muazo Kunata at number two, Awal Mohammed at number three, Alhaji Salim Bamba took number four, Razak Tahiru Maiga secured number five on the ballot paper, while the National Communications Officer position was uncontested, with Dennis Miracles Aboagye going unopposed.
According to the National Officers Election Committee, the balloting followed the completion of the vetting process for aspirants seeking to contest the NPP’s national executive positions.
In a statement issued on September 5, the National Officers Election Committee said the Vetting Committee had recommended all 47 aspirants as suitable and eligible to contest the respective positions for which they had filed their nominations.
The National Officers Election Committee, chaired by Fred Opare Ansah, said it remained committed to conducting the remaining stages of the election process in a fair, transparent, orderly and credible manner.
The committee also called on all aspirants, their supporters and party members to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the unity and integrity of the party as it prepares for its national officers elections in the Ashanti Region.
