The Ministry of Education has extended the operations of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) resolution centres to Friday, September 18, to address outstanding cases involving students yet to secure placement in Senior High Schools.
The Press Secretary to the Education Minister, Hashmin Mohammed, said the extension was intended to clear as many outstanding cases as possible before students report to school on September 18.
Speaking on Accra-based JoyNews, he expressed optimism that the number of unresolved cases would reduce significantly by the reporting date.
“The resolution centres will remain active from Monday till Friday, and we are hoping that by Friday, the numbers should be able to go down because on September 18, they will report to school,” he said.
Mr. Mohammed said 33,726 students had so far secured placement in various schools out of the 53,887 students who were initially placed under the self-placement category.
He said the CSSPS Secretariat had also received 9,948 cases at resolution centres across the country, out of which 4,531 had been resolved.
The remaining cases will continue to be processed at the centres, which are operating nationwide from Monday to Friday.
The centres are handling cases involving students who have encountered difficulties securing placement through the regular placement process or self-placement option.
The extension follows an earlier decision by the Ministry to allow students who were not placed during the initial exercise to use the self-placement option to select schools with available vacancies.
