A 49-year-old trader, Issaka Mohammed, has been arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command for allegedly being in possession of 37 slabs of compressed dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp.
The arrest was made by the Ashaiman District Police on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at about 11:30 p.m., following intelligence received by motorbike patrol officers about a suspected Indian hemp dealer operating at a ghetto behind the New Tulaku Cow Market.
According to the Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Region, ASP Dede Dzakpasu, the police proceeded to the area and intercepted a sack in the possession of the suspect.
“A search of the sack led to the discovery of the thirty-seven slabs of compressed dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp,” the statement said.
The exhibits were counted in the presence of the suspect and retained for evidential purposes.
Suspect Issaka Mohammed is currently assisting the police with investigations and will be put before court.
