DEAD! Nana Yaw Kyere
Police have arrested two suspects, including a woman and a man alleged to have posed as a soldier, in connection with the death of a Kwame Nkrumah Circle phone dealer, Nana Yaw Kyere, popularly known as Dinero or Terry.
Kyere, who had been reported missing after travelling to Teshie, was found dead on the morning of September 24, 2026, following days of search by his family, friends and fellow phone dealers at Circle.
The case is currently being handled by the Manet Police Station, while the two suspects are being held at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in connection with the investigation.
The body of Kyere has been taken to the Police Hospital for autopsy.
Although the police had not officially briefed the public on the circumstances surrounding his death as of yesterday, a relative confirmed that the body had been found.
The unnamed relative also alleged that an attempt had been made to burn the body but was unsuccessful. The circumstances surrounding the alleged attempt were not immediately clear.
Kyere’s disappearance took a new turn after WhatsApp exchanges between him and a close friend surfaced on social media, providing details of his movements during the early hours of Monday.
The messages suggested that Kyere had travelled to Teshie to meet a woman who had reportedly been asking to see him, contrary to earlier reports that he had gone there for a phone transaction.
In one of the messages, Kyere reportedly told his friend that he was at the location because of a woman and shared his location with him, apparently as a precaution in case anything happened to him.
The location was later deleted from the chat.
At about 12:36 a.m., Kyere allegedly sent another message saying, “Suave they set me up,” before later writing, “The soldiers are here so relax.”
At about 3:42 a.m., he reportedly sent another message saying, “We resolve the matter. So I dey go,” to which his friend replied, “Sharp.”
That was reportedly the last communication from Kyere.
His friend expected to hear from him later that morning but became worried after Kyere could not be reached throughout Monday. His disappearance was subsequently reported on social media on Tuesday, leading to increased public attention and police involvement.
Following the circulation of information about his disappearance, Kyere’s Honda Civic was traced to a mechanic’s workshop in the Teshie area.
Information gathered indicated that four men had allegedly pushed the vehicle to the workshop and told the mechanic that it had developed a fault.
The men reportedly asked the mechanic to repair and subsequently respray the vehicle.
However, after the mechanic saw a video circulating on social media showing Kyere and a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident, he became suspicious.
He reportedly compared the vehicle in the video with the one brought to his workshop and noticed similarities.
The mechanic subsequently alerted the Manet Police and towed the vehicle to the Manet Police Station, where it has been impounded for investigations.
The arrest of the two suspects, including the woman Kyere had reportedly gone to meet and the man alleged to have posed as a soldier, is expected to assist the police in establishing the circumstances leading to his death.
Further details about the identity of the other persons allegedly involved, as well as the circumstances surrounding the discovery of Kyere’s body, were not immediately available.
