GoldBod Jewellery Limited (GJL), a subsidiary of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), has expanded its presence in the country’s jewellery market with the opening of a new showroom at the Takoradi Shopping Mall.

The expansion forms part of GoldBod Jewellery’s efforts to promote value addition to the gold resources and retain more value from the precious metal within the domestic economy.

The new showroom, established in partnership with B-Light Jewellery, was officially unveiled on Friday at a ceremony in Takoradi.

The showroom will bring GoldBod Jewellery’s collection of authentic, handcrafted gold jewellery closer to customers in the Western Region.

It will provide customers in Takoradi and surrounding communities with access to the company’s growing range of locally crafted gold ornaments.

The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, described the establishment of the showroom as significant, saying it reflected the growing commercial importance of the region and demonstrated confidence in the potential of the local market.

“It is encouraging to see GoldBod Jewellery, in partnership with an established jeweller such as B-Light, responding to this opportunity,” he said.

The Managing Director of GoldBod Jewellery Limited, Gertrude Emefa Donkor, said the initiative would help create jobs, ensure value retention and promote economic empowerment.

“For us as a company, this represents the execution of our strategic mandate, which is maximising the benefits of our natural resource – gold,” she said.

She said the nation had, for many years, not been deliberate enough in maximising the benefits of its gold resources.

Ms. Donkor said the country was now witnessing significant transformation in the gold sector under the leadership of President John Mahama.

She explained that the partnership with B-Light was part of GoldBod Jewellery’s efforts to promote local value addition to Ghana’s gold resources rather than relying predominantly on the export of raw materials.

She said since its establishment, GoldBod Jewellery had sought to showcase the beauty of Ghanaian gold through carefully crafted ornaments for customers in Ghana and abroad.

According to her, the Takoradi showroom would further strengthen the company’s retail presence and make its products more accessible to customers outside the national capital.

“It supports the broader objective of retaining more value from Ghana’s gold within the domestic economy,” she said.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of B-Light Jewellery, Bridget Nhyira Hevi, said the company’s core vision had always been to add radiance and timeless value to life’s most memorable moments.

“Whether celebrating a wedding, honouring a family legacy or acquiring pieces as personal investments, we believe that every piece of fine jewellery carries a story,” she said.

Ms. Hevi said the partnership with GoldBod Jewellery would enable B-Light to expand that story by combining the strengths of both companies.

She said GoldBod Jewellery brought significant strategic strength, market experience and corporate integrity to the partnership.
