Alexander Afenyo Markin
MINORITY LEADER, Alexander Afenyo Markin, has strongly warned New Patriotic Party (NPP) members not to clandestinely work against the progress and success of the party.
According to him, the NPP has successfully elected its new national officers to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years, so he’s expecting total unity and support for them.
He stated that the party’s internal contest is over so every party member should come onboard and support the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to win the 2028 presidential polls.
The Minority Leader gave the wise counsel in a Facebook post few hours after the NPP’s successful 2026 National Delegates Conference, held in Kumasi last Saturday.
“Nobody should leave Kumasi to work against the NPP. The internal contest is over. The greater work begins,” he wrote, adding that the campaign for 2028 elections should begin now.
Afenyo Markin indicated that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has woefully failed to deliver in government, so the NPP should tactically expose them to the citizenry.
He admonished the NPP members, especially the party leaders and communicators, to humbly let the people know that Dr. Bawumia is the best person to save the country.
“In our view, the NDC Government has lost sight of the fundamental purpose of government: to improve lives, protect freedoms, uphold the rule of law, create opportunity, and exercise public power with competence, fairness and accountability.
“Our responsibility is not merely to criticise. We must earn the trust of Ghanaians again. We must return to every community, listen before we speak, organise, prepare credible solutions, hold the Government to account with facts and courage, and keep faith.
“Our watchwords must be humility, unity and hard work. Let the quarrels end here. Let the work begin here. We fell together, and we have learned together. Now we must rise together with renewed hope, humility, discipline and hard work,” he stated.
According to the Minority Leader, working hard and positively projecting Dr. Bawumia to the people, thereby helping the NPP to win the next presidential election, should be the priority of every NPP member.
“Our task is clear: put our visionary and tireless flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the Jubilee House as President in January 2029, with a strong NPP parliamentary majority to work alongside him in transforming Ghana, unlocking our country’s true potential and empowering every citizen to realize theirs,” he pointed out.
Afenyo Markin congratulated the newly elected NPP National officers, saying, “you have won a duty, not a trophy,” and added that “to those who did not prevail: the party still needs you.”
