Members of the search committee
An interim coach is expected to be recommended for the Black Stars by the five-member committee tasked with finding a successor to Carlos Queiroz.
The committee was established by the Ministry of Sports and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following Queiroz’s resignation as head coach of the senior national team.
According to 3Sports, the committee is expected to recommend an interim coach when it submits its report on Friday, October 9.
The interim coach would take charge of the Black Stars for their November double-header against Somalia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium, while the search for a substantive head coach continues.
The committee’s mandate is also expected to be extended after Friday’s recommendation to allow it to continue its search for a permanent coach.
The committee is chaired by former GFA vice-president Fred Pappoe and includes former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, former Ghana international Anthony Yeboah, Faisal Chibsah and Agbesi Dzakpasu.
Queiroz stepped down after Ghana suffered consecutive defeats in their opening AFCON qualifying matches, losing 2-0 away to Ivory Coast before a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia in Accra.
The results leave Ghana bottom of Group C without a point from their opening two matches, with the Black Stars under pressure to revive their campaign and secure a return to the AFCON after missing the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
