Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has criticised the government for involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the arrest of suspected fraudsters, arguing that more attention should be given to creating jobs for the youth.

The musician made the comments during his Shatta Fest 2026 concert at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday night, October 17.

Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, reportedly attended the event where Shatta Wale made the statement.

Shatta Wale questioned why Ghana was relying on the FBI to pursue suspected fraud cases instead of addressing the economic conditions he believes contribute to the problem.

“We know countries where things are happening but only Ghana they bring the FBI, what’s up,” he screamed.

He defended his wealth, insisting that his music career had enabled him to acquire expensive cars, including a Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini.

“I did my music for 25 years; I bought a Rolls-Royce, I bought a Lamborghini all from my music. Then someone will go and tell someone that Shatta Wale is doing fraud,” he said.

The artiste also acknowledged having friends he described as fraudsters, adding that he would not report them to the authorities.

“Let tell you today I get many fraud boys who are my friends but I’m not a snitch to snitch on them. The country is not good so if you want to fraud, fraud,” he said.

Shatta Wale further warned that young people would resist the government if they felt targeted, saying, “Let me tell you if government wants to fight you, me and you people all will fight the government.”

He also questioned whether better economic conditions and employment opportunities would reduce the number of young people engaging in fraud.

“If you do something better for us do you think boys will be doing fraud,” he asked.

His remarks placed youth unemployment, economic hardship and the government’s approach to suspected cybercrime at the centre of discussions at the concert.
