GIPA Pushes For Fairer Investment Distribution

The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) has called for a more equitable distribution of investment across the country to ensure that the five regions of the north benefit more from Ghana’s economic growth.

The call was made at the Northern Regional Investment Roadshow organised by GIPA in Tamale to showcase investment potential in the area and promote dialogue on sustainable economic growth and development.

The event brought together government officials, traditional leaders, investors, development partners and other stakeholders.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GIPA, Razak Baba, said Ghana had attracted at least GH¢82 billion in foreign investment between 1994 and 2025, but the regions in the northern part of the country received only 1.4 percent of the total.

He said a fairer distribution of investment would create more business opportunities and support economic development in northern Ghana.

“It is important that we replicate in the northern regions what is happening in other parts of the country. Just as those regions have opportunities, the north also has opportunities for investors and businesses,” he said.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Dr. Emmanuel Abeer-Inga, urged the government to implement policies and programmes that would create investment opportunities for people in the five regions of the north.

He expressed optimism that the completion of the Big Push projects and other infrastructure developments across the regions would help attract investors.

Dr. Abeer-Inga also called for increased investment in irrigation and climate-resilient agriculture to support sustainable agricultural production.
