I Pioneered Hiplife – Reggie Rockstone Replies Slim Buster

Reggie Rockstone. INSET: Slim Buster

Hiplife pioneer, Reggie Rockstone, has hit back at veteran musician, Slim Buster, over claims that he has done little to support Ghana’s music industry.

Reggie defended his legacy, insisting that his role in pioneering hiplife should not be overlooked.

“You say I haven’t done anything for the industry, but I pioneered hiplife. You even tapped into it with ‘Masherita’,” he said.

His response follows comments by Slim Buster, who expressed frustration over his inability to meet Reggie to discuss music despite knowing him for years.

Slim Buster also accused the hiplife pioneer of failing to contribute meaningfully to the industry and questioned why veteran musicians were often treated as forgotten artistes.

Reggie, however, described the public criticism as unnecessary, pointing to their longstanding friendship and status as industry veterans.

“OGs do not beef,” he said, urging Slim Buster to address his concerns privately rather than use public platforms to criticise him.

On the claim that he had refused to collaborate with Slim Buster, Reggie said he did not recall receiving a call requesting a collaboration.

He added that musical partnerships depended on personal preference and creative chemistry, stressing that an artiste was not obliged to work with everyone.
