The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the draw procedure for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt, with the eight participating teams set to be divided into two groups of four.
Hosts FC Masar have been assigned position A1, while defending champions AS FAR will occupy position B1.
The top two teams in each group will progress to the knockout stage, which will feature the semi-finals, third-place match and final.
The remaining six teams have been divided into two pots based on their performances in the last three editions of the competition.
South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Mali’s USFAS Bamako will be placed in Pot 1, also known as Level I. Pot 2, or Level II, will comprise Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Cameroon’s Lekie Football Girls, Morocco’s FUS Rabat and the representative from the WAFU B zone.
Pot A will determine positions A2, A3 and A4, while Pot B will be used to allocate positions B2, B3 and B4.
The draw will begin with Pot 1, with the first team drawn joining FC Masar in Group A and its position determined by a separate draw from Pot A. The second team will join AS FAR in Group B, with Pot B determining its position.
CAF has also introduced a special measure to prevent two clubs from the same country from being drawn into the same group.
Since AS FAR are already placed in Group B, FUS Rabat will be represented by a differently coloured ball and drawn first from Pot 2. The Moroccan club will automatically be assigned a position in Group A.
The remaining Pot 2 teams will then be allocated to their respective groups and positions through the established procedure until all eight clubs have been placed.
Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Nigeria’s Edo Queens are competing for the final qualification spot reserved for the WAFU B zone.
The winner of that contest will complete the line-up for the tournament, joining FC Masar, AS FAR, Mamelodi Sundowns, USFAS Bamako, Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Lekie Football Girls and FUS Rabat.
