A.B. Crentsil Goes Home Saturday

 

The mortal remains of veteran Ghanaian highlife musician, A.B. Crentsil, whose death occurred early hours of Wednesday, July 13, would be buried this Saturday, November 5 at a private cemetery in Accra.

According to the family, on Friday, November 4, a night vigil will be held at the Community 8 No. 2 JHS Park in Tema.

The burial service will take place at the Community 8 No. 2 JHS Park on Saturday, November 5, where the body will be laid in state for friends and sympathisers to pay their last respect to the departed,followed by a private burial.

He was 79.

Final funeral rites will take place after burial at same venue and the attire is black and red.

Thanksgiving service will be held at the Bethel Methodist Church, Tema, on Sunday, November 6.

A.B.Crentsil produced great highlife songs such as‘I Go Pay You Tomorrow’, ‘Papa Samo’, ‘Moses’, ‘Juliana’, ‘Atia’, ‘Angelina’, ‘Ayen’, ‘Devil’, ‘Adwoa’, ‘Adam and Eve’ among others.

As a producer, composer and arranger, A.B.Crentsil worked with the likes of Jewel Ackah, Pat Thomas, Eric Agyeman, Smart Nkansah, Pope Flynn among others.

Crentsil has played with the El Dorados, the Sweet Talks – which later became a group in the 1970s under the joint leadership of Crentsil and Smart Nkansah. They were also the resident band at The Talk Of The Town Hotel in Tema, with Crentsil as a lead singer.
